I picked up the guitar before I really knew why, and somewhere along the way it stopped being a choice. It just became part of how I move through the world.
It's been my life ever since: solo shows and ceremonies, years on stages, recording sessions, songwriting, and the part I love most teaching. There's a moment when a student finally hears what their hands are doing, and that look on their face never gets old.
My playing is rooted in flatpicking, but I borrow from everywhere folk, country, singer-songwriter, blues, rock, and the singing itself. I sing as well as play, so even a solo set feels full and complete.
This website is just a starting point. Flatpick Pathway, the academy I'm building, is how I hope to reach players I may never get to meet in person.
